An Essential Right

Lorelei Ensemble is committed to performing new works that are transformative—for us, our audience, and our art form. Her Story, written by Julia Wolfe for Lorelei Ensemble and symphony orchestra, is one of those works. It will commemorate the centennial of the 1920 ratification of the 19th Amendment, which guaranteed women the right to vote.

In anticipation of the project we’ve asked Lorelei's Her Story ensemble members to reflect on this historic moment, what it means to them as 21st-century women, and their thoughts on what it is to be a 21st-century artist.
